Programs

EDI has been gradually expanding its activities. The Institute provides support to both existing and prospective entrepreneurs covering different target groups like women, rural and urban poor, unemployed youth, science & technology persons, voluntarily retired persons, ex-servicemen, retiring service men, minorities, field and middle-level executives of SMEs in Kolkata & in the districts of West Bengal. Entrepreneurship training in some new areas like Pisciculture, Travel and Tourism, Handicrafts, Floriculture and other Horticultural Products etc has been started.

Some on-going programmes are as under :

Entrepreneurship Development Programs (2 to 6 weeks duration) for certain target groups like women, unemployed youth, rural and urban poor, ex-servicemen, voluntarily retired persons, science & technology persons etc. as sponsored by various Govt and other organizations.

These Entrepreneurship Development Programmes are primarily being organised for following target groups:

Minorities as sponsored by West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation;
Science & Technology persons as sponsored by Department of Science & Technology Persons, Govt. of India
Prospective Entrepreneurs as sponsored by Directorate of Cottage & Small Scale Industries, Government of West Bengal
Rural Entrepreneurs as sponsored by NABARD
Retiring Defence Personnel as sponsored by Department of Resettlement, Ministry of Defence; Govt. of India
Selected beneficiaries under Rural Employment Generation Programme as sponsored by Khadi & Village Industries Commission
Selected beneficiaries under Banga Swanirbhar Karmasansthan Prakalpa as sponsored by Department of Youth Services, Government of West Bengal
Ex-servicemen as sponsored by Rajya Sainik Board

	Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps (1 to 3 days duration) in the Universities, Colleges, Technical, Engineering, Management Institutes and NGOs as sponsored by the above organizations/ Institutes from time to time.
	Special Entrepreneurship Development Programmes on specific trade like food processing, diversified Jute Products, handicrafts, IT, Pisciculture, travel & tourism, floriculture etc.
	Vocational Training (3 months to 6 months) in Diversified Jute Products, Computer, Food Processing, Silk Screen Printing, garment making and some other trades. Trades selected as per requirement of the sponsors.
	One-year Diploma Course on Entrepreneurship Development & Small Business Management: Conducted jointly with the Netaji Subhas Open University. The Syllabus of the course includes Entrepreneurship, Operations Management, Marketing Management, General Management and Business Development, Financial Management & Project Report Preparation, Sessions Starts in July each year. Qualification: H.S or equivalent. Participation Fees: Rs.5300/-.
	1-year Diploma Course in Travel & Tourism: Conducted jointly with the Netaji Subhas Open University. The course is designed to develop entrepreneurship among the trainees in travel and tourism business covering travel agencies, tour-operation units, transportation services, accommodation, enterprises like hotels, motels, guest-houses etc; food & beverage services etc. Minimum qualification: H.S. Sessions starts in July.
	4 month Certificate Course in Entrepreneurship Development & Small Business Management for retiring Defence personnel (Army, Air Force and Navy): Conducted jointly with the Netaji Subhas Open University and Resettlement Directorate, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. Sessions begins in June and November.
	12-week Export-Import Management Course (Evening): The basic purpose of the course is to impart training on various aspects of export & import so as to make the participants better equipped to play their roles in the field of international trade either as an entrepreneurs or an executive. Minimum qualification: Graduate or Diploma. 3 days a week. Participation charge: Rs. 5500/-. Sessions held twice a year.
	6-week Marketing & Selling Skill Development Programme (Evening): This course provides basic knowledge on marketing and selling issues. It is a comprehensive course designed for the entrepreneurs as well as marketing professionals. It will equip them with the concepts, tools & techniques of various marketing & selling matters that they needed for becoming successful entrepreneurs or executives. Programmes held twice a year. Minimum Qualification: Graduate or Diploma. Session held in April and August.
	12-week Certificate Course in Business Correspondence, Spoken English & Communication Skill Development: The course is designed to train the candidates to speak, read, and listen effectively in English medium. The training is helpful in both domestic and international context. In order to enhance personal effectiveness, instructive sessions also held on mannerism and etiquette through role-play, slides and electronic aids. Minimum qualification: H.S. Courses held twice a year.
	10-week Training in Export-oriented Floriculture and Allied Products: Conducted jointly with the Deptt. of Food Processing and Horticulture, Govt. of West Bengal and Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya for development of entrepreneurship in the areas of production, cool-chain transportation, and marketing of flowers, fruits, vegetables and related products both in domestic and international markets. Minimum qualification: School Final. Participation Charge: Rs.2500/-. Courses held twice a year.
	6-week Financial Management Course (Evening): It is a comprehensive course designed for the entrepreneurs as well as non-financial executives/ managers to equip them with financial concepts, tools & techniques of various financial and accounting matters. Minimum qualification: Graduate or Diploma. Course Fees: Rs. 3500/-. Course held once a year.
